Well, is nearly the Spring Equinox and the birds are there before me. As I am at the top of the house, I am treated to a competition every morning.
At the front the calls of the gulls are loud and strident, jolly and competitive, and truthfully, totally unwelcome at 5 in the morning. At the same time through the back windows, drift thrush song, and blackbirds, and the bewildered blithering of pigeons.
And added to it all, the yowl of a cat who has forgotten that it was he who insisted that he absolutely had to go out to hunt 'things' in the teeth of the gale at 11 last night.
I have never been a late riser, but at the moment......
